Black History Month

This October, our school will be celebrating Black History Month! To help mark the occasion, the School Council has organised three fun and engaging activities for classes to take part in every Friday afternoon.

Your class School Councillor will bring a poster to display in your classroom, but here is a quick overview of what we have planned.

  • Friday 9th October – Poetry Reading: Read a poem to the class written by a famous Black poet (e.g., Maya Angelou, Benjamin Zephaniah, or Langston Hughes).
  • Friday 16th October – Caribbean Music: Spend some time listening to Caribbean music (such as Reggae, Soca, or Steel Pan) and enjoying the rhythms!
  • Friday 23rd October – Colouring & Celebrating Heroes: Colouring pictures and learning about famous Black figures from around the world.

Medical Tracker

A reminder that we use ‘Medical Tracker’ to record all first aid incidents and to notify parents and carers when their child has had first aid treatment at school. As before, we will still telephone you for more serious incidents that may require further medical attention.

Attendance Reporting

All medical appointments should be made outside of school hours where possible.

If your child has a medical appointment you will need to notify the Attendance team in the office not the Class Teacher. Proof of any appointments will be requested by the Attendance Team.

Please make sure to contact school for each day that your child is absent. You can do this by calling the School or through MCAS.
